Meama Dropper: Revolutionizing Coffee Vending

Transparent, Modular, and User-friendly Coffee Capsule Vending Machine

Designed by Meama, the Dropper is inspired by the need for high-quality coffee in business environments. The machine is transparent, allowing customers to see the condition of the product. It holds six blends and two types of capsules. The machine is designed to return money if it fails to dispense a product, a common issue with traditional vending machines.

The Dropper's unique properties include its capacity to hold between 810-1290 coffee capsules, depending on the type. The machine is modular, holding six mechanisms for each taste. This modularity allows customers to choose their favorite taste, and the transparency of the machine ensures they can see the condition of the products. The machine also guarantees the safety of customers' money, returning it if the machine fails to dispense a product.

The Dropper is made with tempered glass for durability and safety, uniquely shaped extruded aluminum for each type of capsule, and steel parts covered with powder coating. All parts in contact with the capsules meet food safety standards. The machine's dimensions are Width 835mm x Depth 590mm x Height 1670mm, and it comes in two variations: one with concrete and stainless steel on top, and another in chestnut wood.

Operating the Dropper is straightforward. Users only need a smartphone to scan the QR code, register, and access the entire menu. The machine counts the quantity ordered and refunds money if the quantity is incorrect. This feature ensures that there are never any cases where customers pay and do not receive their product.

The Dropper project started in February 2018 in Tbilisi and finished in September 2018. It was exhibited in China, Guangzhou in November 2018, and in Moscow in September 2018. The design was based on local research conducted by Meama via CC and digital survey forms, which showed the need for fast, easy, and cashless access to coffee capsules.

The Dropper is an innovative vending machine for coffee capsules, with a distinctive design that follows Meama’s Head Office design concept. It is presented in two visuals - concrete and wood, allowing customers to match them with different interiors. In addition to its ease of use and design, the Dropper is energy efficient and eco-friendly.

The design was awarded the Golden A' Office and Business Appliances Design Award in 2021, a testament to its outstanding design and functionality. The Dropper is a marvelous, trendsetting creation that reflects the designer's prodigy and wisdom, significantly impacting the world with its desirable characteristics.
